Anya Nystrom is pleased to be contributing to the conversation on embedding race equity values and strategies in human resources (HR) practices and systems. As a dedicated public service employee serving 17 years with the City and County of Denver (CCD) in several roles and capacities, Anya has spent the last five years in HR carrying out systems work bringing an equity lens to the areas of talent management, organizational culture, and leadership development. Over the last two years in alignment with citywide efforts and national attention on race equity, Anya has been a practitioner of DEI engaging in focused work to address systemic practices, policies, mindsets, and behaviors that perpetuate racial inequity from recruitment and retention to promotion in and through leadership roles. With a Master of Arts in Organization Development from the University of Denver, Anya’s passion is in systems change. She will bring her individual perspective and analysis of best practices that support equity across the public sector HR industry.
